In 2007, the Charity Commission approved the amalgamation of two schemes – The Town Lands (Great Bowden) Charity and The Market Harborough & The Bowdens Charity into one scheme, known now as the Market Harborough & The Bowdens Charity.

The Town Lands Charity was required to apply a proportion of its income to the maintenance and repair of the fabric of Great Bowden Parish Church and this requirement was passed to the new, amalgamated Charity.  The remainder of the combined Charity’s income is applied to Relief in Need, an Educational Faculty and for other charitable purposes for the general benefit of the inhabitants of the scheme area, for which provision is not made out of rates, taxes or other public funds.  The scheme area comprises the former Urban District of Market Harborough as constituted immediately before the Local Government review of the 1st April 1974.  The Charity is bound by its Trust Deed.  A Board of 18 Feoffees manage the short and long term business of the Charity.

The Charity is based at 149 St Mary’s Road, Market Harborough, Leicestershire LE16 7DZ.
