Stemming from the former Little Bowden Charity the Market Harborough & The Bowdens Charity own and administer fourteen Almshouses situated on Scotland Road, Little Bowden, Market Harborough. Three blocks of four flats were built in 1974 and the site also includes a detached cottage which has been converted to form two further flats.
The flats all benefit from “elderly friendly” layouts, equipment and fittings including stair lifts, walk-in showers and security and emergency call systems.
The Almshouses are available to people who meet the Charity’s applicant criteria of currently living in Market Harborough and who are in some level of financial need such that they would be unable to secure appropriate open market accommodation.
The Almshouses are designed for independent living and have no warden control facilities on site.
We maintain a register of prospective residents. Application forms for applying to become a resident and supporting documents are available via the link below.
