£7,500 Grant Awarded to HCYC Young Carers Group

We are thrilled to share that Market Harborough and the Bowdens Charity have generously awarded the HCYC Young Carers Group a significant grant of £7,500. This funding will directly impact the lives of young carers in the Harborough District, providing crucial support for their vital work for a full year starting in September 2024.

The HCYC Young Carers Group is dedicated to supporting young carers in the Harborough District aged 11-18 who care for someone at home. These young individuals balance the responsibilities of caregiving with the demands of school and everyday life. Our grant aims to provide them with opportunities to enjoy their youth, learn new skills, and connect with others in similar situations.

The group offers a range of activities and support, including:

  • Fortnightly Meetings: Held at The Cube on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
  • Holiday Trips: Exciting outings during school breaks.
  • Free Activities: Ensuring accessibility for all participants.
  • Friendly Youth Workers: Providing guidance and support.
  • Transport Support: Courtesy of VASL, ensuring everyone can attend.
