Ever thought about getting an allotment?
Apart from the benefit of producing your own fruit and vegetables as opposed to having to buy them, allotments are good for you! It will come as no surprise to most of us that gardening is good for you, but perhaps you haven’t thought about the additional benefits of having an allotment.
As a starter, your allotment space is an opportunity to be outside and boost your mood by nurturing plants and contemplating nature.
Secondly, there are the health benefits of being physically active and moving your body and there are plenty of opportunities to do this when growing edibles and maintaining your plot.
Having an allotment is so good for you that Doctors are beginning to suggest them as a ‘social’ prescription for good health.
In short, allotments are good for you and we would love you to be involved.
Our Allotments in Market Harborough
Did you know we own two allotment sites? One on Northampton Road and one on Stevens Street (off Logan Street).
Collectively, there are 160 plots across the two sites which are rented out to plot holders to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Our sites encompass ponds, shrubbery, trees and some raised beds that offer wheelchair accessibility.
We have a diverse range of people who are current plot holders, from families with young children to working couples, single people and older people in retirement.
We also have some community-led plot holders such as the W.I. and a local school.

Who can apply and how?
